From understanding the limits to acting on them
Climetrics did not begin with a business plan. It began with years spent close to the science of sustainability, from the ideas behind the UN Sustainable Development Goals to doughnut economics and the Stockholm Resilience Centre’s work on planetary boundaries. The more time we spent inside that science, and the more real product and industry data we measured, the clearer a single, uncomfortable pattern became: of the nine boundaries that keep our planet stable, six have already been crossed, and manufacturing sits upstream of most of them.
Understanding that is one thing; acting on it is another. We are a small team, and we know we cannot lower the world’s emissions on our own. But the manufacturers who make its steel, cement, chemicals, vehicles and everyday products can, and they are under growing pressure to prove it. So we chose the role we are genuinely able to play: giving those industries clear, verified, hotspot-level metrics that show precisely where their impact lies, and how to bring it down.
